OUR STORYPEOPLE SUPPORTING PEOPLEOur backgrounds are in anthro, ed, and art, and in building alliances with internally displaced people, people fleeing harm (refugees), and people in at-risk situations or facing structural marginalization.
We saw people weren't getting the resources they needed and deserved. So, we launched a 501c3 non-profit, to make it easier to get people the support they deserve and to educate the public on it all. |
OUR COLLABORATORS
We are brand new, but have a long history working with some folks. Meet them.
MEET MARINOMarino, formerly displaced himself, runs a shelter outside of Bogota that houses, feeds, and provides a family-like care experience for displaced individuals.
Called Fundación Colombia Nuevos Horizontes - FCNH (New Horizons ColombiaFoundation), our name is a hat-tip to the long care work they have been doing and our seven years of collaboration. _______ Folks staying at FCNH are treated like people, not a number. Many consider people they met there family long after their stay. _______ The foundation now serves many people fleeing Venezuela, in addition to internally displaced Colombian citizens. Learn More |
WHY EMERGENT?
This organization is committed to change, growth and new ways of doing/being shaping how we show up.
_______ We recognize a non-profit is not a structural solution; it is one action we can do right now to move resources to where they are most needed. _______ None of us receive any compensation; our work is repair work, centering the most vulnerable. Learn More |
